Fort Wayne, Indiana is the place to go for family fun, a day out with the girls, a night out with the guys, or a romantic evening with someone special.
Family fun highlights can include a visit to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Science Central, or to a Fort Wayne TinCaps game.
The Children’s Zoo is home to more than 1500 animals. Aside from enjoying the animals, one can also enjoy the exciting rides the zoo has to offer. With each ride having its own individual fee, one can ride the Sky Safari, the Zoo Train, the Endangered Species Carousel, the River Ride, and the Pony Rides. Food and drinks can be found throughout the zoo, as well as picnic areas located just outside the gates. The zoo also has numerous day camps available for ages 18-months to 12 years of age.
Science Central is a museum devoted to science and technology. It has both permanent and temporary exhibitions. Permanent exhibitions include areas such as Kids Central, which is a perfect place for children ages 2 -7 to explore hands-on exhibits; the Observation Gallery, where kids can examine hermit crabs in the Ocean Tidal Pool or participate in hands-on activities such as launching a wind missile; and the Mind’s Eye Gallery, where one can work on interactive puzzles, sort out optical illusions, or crawl through The Sewer. Temporary exhibits include those such as the Hubble Space Telescope or Snakes, Rattles, and Holes.
A fun family day can be spent at Parkview Field watching a TinCup baseball game. The TinCups are Fort Wayne’s Minor League baseball team, who also take the title of 2009 Midwest League Champions. Special promotions are held weekly that include such events as Poster Giveaway, Thirsty Thursday, Racing Night, and Game Show Night. Parkview Field also offers more than baseball. It plays host to events and concerts, such as the Zac Brown Band, Women’s Night Out, or a beer tasting party.
